Glacier lake Hvitarvatn

We offer the most exciting day tour in Iceland

We offer an 'all in one' day tour in Iceland. You get to see and experience all the greatest wonders of Iceland in one day. Departing from Reykjavik we begin by exploring the Golden circle in a bus tour. There you get to see Thingvellir national park, Geysir geothermal field and Gullfoss waterfall. After the Golden circle we drive to the highlands of Iceland. We will drive on Kjolur mountain road and go to Hvitarvatn glacier lake. We take a boat ride on the lake and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. We stop the boat at Nordurjokull glacier (e. North glacier) and take a short hike on the glacier. The view from the glacier is magnificent.

The North Glacier is an outlet glacier from Langjokull glacier, the second largest glacier in Iceland. Until now this breathtaking scenery has been out of reach but thanks to our new boat trip over Hvitarvatn we can now explore a new territory that only very few have seen.

The golden circle

Our tour begins with the famous Golden Circle. The Golden Circle is a popular tourist route in South Iceland, covering the most beautiful places in the south-west corner of Iceland. The three primary stops on the route are the national park Thingvellir, the waterfall Gullfoss and the geothermally active valley of Haukadalur, where the geysers Geysir and Strokkur are located.

The highlands of Iceland

The Highlands of Iceland cover most of the interior of Iceland. They are situated above 400–500 metres and are mostly an uninhabitable volcanic desert, because the water precipitating as rain or snow infiltrates so quickly into the ground that it is unavailable for plant growth, which results largely in a surface of grey, black or brown earth, lava and volcanic ashes. We will drive on Kjolur mountain road over to Hvitarvatn glacier lake.

Sailing on lake Hvitarvatn

We offer two types of boats. One boat is an inflatable boat and can carry up to 8 people and the other boat is an aluminium boat that can carry up to 40 people. You will board the boat and sail a sightseeing tour around the lake. The boat trip around the lake to the glacier takes around 30 minutes. Sailing on the glacier lake is a great experience and the scenery is magnificent.

Walking on Langjokull glacier

Langjokull glacier is the second largest ice cap in Iceland. We will stop the boat near the glacier. We put on crampons and after a short lesson we take an easy walk for one hour on the glacier. Exploration of blue ice, ice sculptures, water cauldrons and ice caves is an adventure in the ever chancing landscape. After that we go on the boat again to have look at Karlsdrattur a nature reserve protected by the glacier and the lake.
